FujiFilm "The Colour Of..."

For this assignment we have been given 5 weeks to produce 3 images on fujifilm. The theme of this assignment is "the colour off...." which means that we can take images of whatever we want based around the theme of colour. I have some ideas which are fashion based so i could get my models with bright and over the top make-up on and photograph them in the studio, also i would like to ask hair and beauty wether they would like to be involved. I have got inspiration to do this from Rankin this is because i really like his beauty/fashion shots i think that they are really strong and meaningful. A few images that i have looked at from Rankin are:
I really like all of these images because they are dull images which makes the make-up and various colours stand out more.







I have been looking at all of Rankin's work and i have found a few pictures that i would like to replicate or do something simular to. I have chosen to do this because its easy and simple and it looks really good. What i will have to complete this images is get a few different coloured lipsticks and a few different flowers. I will be doing this in the studio so that the main focus isnt lost. To make it easy i would use one model and just change there lipstick and flower on each shot. Another idea i have thought of is making the lips of my models into different animals. I found images from google that people have already done that have inspired me. I think this is good because its different and unusual. Also it is very colourful so it stands out very well.

Pinhole Photography


A pinhole camera is a simple camera without a lens and with a single small aperture – effectively a light-proof box with a small hole in one side. Light from a scene passes through this single point and projects an inverted image on the opposite side of the box. The human eye in bright light acts similarly, as do cameras using small apertures.
Up to a certain point, the smaller the hole, the sharper the image, but the dimmer the projected image. Optimally, the size of the aperture should be 1/100 or less of the distance between it and the projected image.

Today we made our own Pinhole cameras and then went out and done an exposer of our own, and then developed them in the dark room. After doing this we scanned them onto the computer inverted them so that they were opposite to the negatives. Firstly we done this for 30 seconds and we found out that it was too dark, so we then knew we had to expose the paper for longer, so after that we went out and done another test shot and exposed it for 1 minute and this image and after developing it, it turned out better so then we then done an exposure for each of us filling the tin we made into the pinhole camera.
